Sports columnist David Steele has written
his last article for the
San Francisco Chronicle. He's moving all the way back east to the
Baltimore Sun. Steele's been one of my favorites in the
Sporting Green: reasoned, tough, never flashy, always thoughtful. I first turned on to him when he was the
Chron's Warriors beat writer; he's probably the best day-in-day-out basketball writer I've read. As a columnist, he showed that he was pretty smart about a number of other sports too.
I'm sure he'll still be readable online at the
Sun's site, but I'll miss him as part of my daily
Chron-crawl at
SF Gate. Best wishes, Mr. Steele, and thanks for all the good words.
